What Sugar Detective is — and isn't
Sugar Detective is a free educational tool. It reads your photo with AI — a nutrition label, or the food itself — and shows sugar amounts, everyday comparisons, and a gentler alternative. It is informational only: it is not medical, dietetic, or nutritional advice, it does not diagnose anything, and it is no substitute for a doctor or registered dietitian. AI can misread a label or misjudge a portion — always check the actual label, and talk to a professional before making decisions about your child's diet.
Fair use
The tool is free for personal use, with no account needed. Please don't abuse it: no automated or bulk requests, no attempts to overload or reverse-engineer the service, and no uploading of unlawful content or photos of people. We apply rate limits and may block usage that ignores them.
Your content, our content
Photos you submit remain yours; you give us permission only to process them once to produce your result, after which they are discarded. Everything else on this site — text, design, illustrations, and the Kipi character — belongs to Forkpie and may not be reused commercially without our written permission.
The beta programme
Joining the beta list means we'll email you an invitation when a spot opens. Invitations go out in waves; we can't guarantee timing or availability. The beta app itself has its own terms, shown before you start using it.
Liability
The site and the tool are provided "as is", free of charge. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made based on the tool's output or for temporary unavailability of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law grants you and that cannot be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Romanian law. For consumers in Romania, complaints can be addressed to ANPC (anpc.ro), and disputes can be settled out of court through ANPC's alternative dispute resolution service (SAL). Consumers elsewhere in the EU can use the alternative dispute resolution body in their own country. The EU's online dispute resolution platform closed in July 2025 and is no longer available.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site evolves; the date above reflects the latest version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
